What is clean eating?
Clean eating is a popular catch phrase these days. For something being bantered about so much, the definition of it is still unclear. Is clean eating vegetarian? Is the food cooked? Can you eat carbs and still eat clean? Must everything be organic? Is it expensive to eat clean? These are just some of the questions I hear when speaking of clean eating.
The one thing for certain is what clean eating is not. It is not a diet, it is a lifestyle.
In clean eating you are focusing on eating food in its most natural form. Oats as opposed to processed cereal. Brown rice as opposed to instant white rice. When looking for the healthiest items to eat, aim for seven ingredients or less. And look for ingredients in their whole forms like whole grains instead of refined grains.Refined grains, for example white rice, instant rice, rice mixes and the like, have been stripped of their fiber-rich bran (outer skin) and nutritious germ (the inner part that sprouts into a new plant), bleached, and doctored up with preservatives.
While it may seem complicated, it really is not. Just eat real food in its most real form.
Little changes to your everyday diet will add up to great health benefits. And as you eat better, you will feel better. As you feel better, you want to continue to take care of yourself and eat better. It is a wonderful cycle.
